Welcome to The Portrait Sculpture Company.
I'm Gideon, the artist behind these unique and personalised sculptures.
I have a degree in sculpture and a passion for turning photo memories into drawings and sculptures.
During lockdown, I began working on this concept in my back garden and the response to my work was overwhelming. I hand draw each design and now have a partnership with a fantastic CNC company who cut my designs on high density wooden boards into a 70cm (or 110cm) tall sculpture with incredible detail.
The sculptures are light and easy to install (just one included nail needed), with a minimalist design that allows them to "float" on your wall. Each sculpture is carefully packaged and easy to install.
My Personalised Sculptures
Each portrait sculpture is designed by hand from your photo with pen and paper. The image is turned into a digital file for cutting by CNC machine using a high density fibre board which is black throughout and specially designed for intricate cutting work.
Sizes Options
I make three sizes of sculpture - 50cm, 70cm and 90cm as measured by the longest side. Black is 9mm and the birch is 12mm.
* These sizes are optimised to the thickness of the board to provide the most elegant and robust line possible. The sculptures are very light in weight which aids the impression of floating on the wall.
Transportation
The packaging is almost as lovely as the artwork it contains. The waste part from the cutting process is used to protect the sculpture then it’s sandwiched between two wooden sheets and wrapped in cardboard ready to ship.
Material
All sculptures are made from lightweight high density fibre board - in Black or Birch finish.
Due to their minimal weight unlike other wall hangings our sculptures can be hung from all wall surfaces whether solid or not
The example shown is from an 18mm thick (large) sculpture.
Installation is simple:
Hammer the nail that is provided into the wall leaving 1cm sticking out.
Then, locate a centrally balanced point to rest the sculpture on the nail.
Wide pieces may require a second nail, in which case; hammer in the first nail, hang one side of the piece, hold it in place where you want it to go and mark a position for the second nail.
