Meet Gideon
My art journey started with a degree in sculpture which was a time of wildly irrepressible creative freedom. I love drawing people, finding the lines that are necessary to capture their essence.
For several years I’ve turned photo memories into drawings. Families, holidays, weddings and special occasions captured in line. Sculpture is a perfect way to take the drawings away from the page and make them a more physical object. An artwork without a frame that pops off the wall.
The concept was developed during lockdown in the back garden, cutting high density fibre board by hand with a jigsaw. I used a block of insulation foam to support the work and learnt to cut very fine detail without it breaking. I got a lot of pleasure from making and giving away family and wedding portraits to friends. When I posted the photos on my socials the response was overwhelming and people wanted to know how they could get one.
2022 has been an exciting year with lots of new portrait sculpture customers who have been delighted with their artworks and the increasing demand has led to a partnership with a fantastic CNC company who cut my designs to an exceptionally high finish.
